Last week we brought you our first-hand racing experience from day 1 & 2 of the 2018 York Enduro. This week, we've handed the racing duties back to the corporate's and pro's as we bring you an action-packed, highlights-style showcase of what went down on days 3 & 4. With cooler weather moving in overnight, day 3's dual slalom was no walk in the park. With slick conditions, a stacked field and everything to play for, this was definitely one of the most excited races we've seen to date! Day 4 was all about the cross-country and with a fantastic course on offer, the pro's went about their duties in a guns-blazing fashion. Throw in a bit of team-relay spice and a wheelie-off and once again, there was plenty of entertainment on offer. After an incredible four days of mountain-biking in some spectacular surroundings, all that was left was to do was give back to this sport we all love so much. Lead by York Timbers, groups of pro's and corporate's gathered at the local Sabie community schools to share the ride with young pupils and avid two-wheeled fans. Simply put, smiles for miles! In closing, the York Enduro truly is a remarkable experience and we consider ourselves extremely privileged to have been apart of this year's event. To Piet, Odette and the rest of the York Timbers team, thank you for the unbelievable hospitality and riding experience. We'll definitely be back for more. To our corporate friends and fans out there, if you get the opportunity to enter a team into the York Enduro then be sure to do so! Hopefully our two-episode experience paints the kind of picture that gets you as excited as we did about this unique event!

Pre hopping a mountain bike is a useful skill that allows you to maintain speed and flow on a trail. Using natural trail features to clear obstacles, drops, knuckles and technical sections into a controlled landing is an essential skill for advanced mountain bikers. Depending on the type of obstacle or lip you can even bunnyhop into it, and use the transition to pump your bike and gain speed. Getting this skill nailed will not only make you a faster and more controlled rider, but it also looks super cool.

The rain that had so affected the downhill racing in La Bresse had all but disappeared as the Elite Women and Elite Men took to the track for Round 7 of the UCI Mercedes-Benz XCO World Cup. The deluge of the previous few days had taken its toll on the course, though. Ruts were forming out in the open, while in the covered forest sections the rocks and roots were extremely slippery, making climbing very hard and descending technically demanding. The Elite Women's XCO grand finale didn't disappoint and the title showdown played out with one of the most exciting and intense races we've seen on the cross-country circuit for a long time. Littered with mechanicals, and with the pressure of the World Cup overall title riding on this race, it was drama-filled and action-packed from the get go. When it came to overall standings, the battle for the top spot was between Danish rider Annika Langvad and Switzerland Jolanda Neff. After the chaos of the women's race, all eyes were on the elite Men's race to see if it could produce as much drama. The World Cup overall title was already Nino Schurter's and the Swiss racer cut a relaxed figure before the start. Nino Schurter was crowned World Cup champion in Mont-Sainte-Anne in the Men's class, leaving the Elite Women's overall title the only issue to be decided in this final race of the season. Second and third place in the overall standings was still up for grabs however, with four riders in contention: Mathieu Van der Poel, Henrique Avancini, Maxime Marotte and Gerhard Kerschbaumer. It was perfect end of the season for Schurter, who claimed his 30th World Cup win, and he goes into the 2018 World Championships at home in Lenzerheide, Switzerland, in top form. With the results, Van der Poel was confirmed as second in the World Cup overall standings, with Marotte moving up to third due to Avancini finishing down in 16th place in the race.

Fox Live Valve, a system which promises to control MTB suspension to suit the terrain, has been publicly in the pipeline for years. We first saw it on professional cross country and enduro racers’ bikes back in 2015. More recently, we’ve noticed a few test bikes with fixtures for the hitherto unavailable technology. Now, the cat’s out of the bag. Live Valve bikes are available to buy, and the system can be purchased aftermarket too. What’s more, we’ve been riding it for the last two months, and can tell you what it’s like to ride.

Watch a recap of the racing as a very different course greeted the cross-country cohort for Friday's XCC showdown at the UCI XC World Cup round in France. Introduced into the UCI Mountain Bike World Cup for the first time in the 2018 season, cross-country short track is held on a shorter, but still demanding, course. Still a very new addition to the cross-country race weekend, the fifth Cross-Country Short Track race (XCC) of the season took a different shape at La Bresse's World Cup round in France.
