KZN-MTB will be hosting a fun Cross Country event on the 22 of January 2012 at Cascades. The event will take place on a course of about 5km in length which is easy/moderate in difficulty so its an event for the whole family. Its also a great way to get into the swing of Cross Country before the season starts, without the pressure that goes with racing.

Teams of 2 or 3 will have a time limit to complete as many laps as possible. For U16 and younger this will be 4 hours and for Juniors and above, 8 hours. This will be easy to do as riders will do a lap and then rest for 1 or 2 laps, depending on how many in the team.

There will be multiple detours, shorts cuts, road blocks and pit stops along the route, these features being “engineered” to help level the playing field between the racing snakes and the fun riders.  Participants are encouraged to improve their general knowledge and bring a sense of humor on “Race day”.

The emphasis is on having a fun day outdoors and riding our bikes with friends and family. Funds raised at this event will go towards maintaining the Cascades Trails in 2012.
