New event

After careful consideration we have decided to create an additional 3 day midweek event which will be known as the FedGroup Berg and Bush Great Trek. This route will follow exactly the same route as the FedGroup Descent however will be midweek from Tuesday 30^th October and will finish in Winterton village Thursday 1^st November.

This new event will reduce the field for the Descent and create an event for cyclists who prefer 

•          a smaller field,
•          less congestion,
•          good food
•          Shorter queues.

Although the Descent will still remain the main race with prize money we will still have trophies for the Great Trek winners.

Dates for 2012

FedGroup Berg and Bush Descent - Friday 26^th, Saturday 27^th and Sunday 28th October (Registration Thursday 25^th at Little Switzerland)

FedGroup Berg and Bush Great Trek - Tuesday 30^th, , Wednesday 31^st October and Thursday 1^st November (Registration Monday 29^th at Little Switzerland)

FedGroup Berg and Bush 2 day - Saturday 3^rd and Sunday 4^th November 2012 (Registration Friday 2^nd at Emseni Camp)

Route Changes

We have already been riding and scouting for new routes and have found some great new long singletrack sections through thick African Bushveld. We plan to increase the distance on Day 2 of the Descent and Great Trek to around 75kms. The distances should then be 90kms on day 1, 75kms on Day 2 and 70kms on Day 3.

We plan to keep the 2 day event distances the same I.e. 65kms and 50kms

New Secretary

We were sad to lose the services of Charmaine who left us to home school her children. We are all going to miss her. We are really excited that Marinda Jelliman, Charmaine’s tweetalige neighbour, has joined us.

Dates for Opening Entries

Our entries for all 3 events open to previous teams on Friday 1^st June at 10h00. Entries open to the public on 15^th June 2012 at 10h00.
