Power Cycles has re-launched under the guidance and passion of the Evans family. Good service, fine company and a great cup of coffee can now accompany a visit to your favourite cycling store, still located in the convenient Twin Centre in Umgeni Road, Durban. Vaughn and Bronwyn, and their son Dylan are all avid mountain bikers, who would love to swop war stories with you! They are passionate about their sport, and it is this passion that carries across to their business ethic. Power Cycles carries a select range of Bicycles including: Jamis, the 3rd biggest independent in the USA, Cube German precision at its best and Morewood proudly South African and more KZN pride. As essential as good service, good work ethics and good brands might be, a good workshop is the lifeblood of a bicycle shop. Power Cycles does not disappoint in this regard, in actual fact we excel. Johannes a longtime mechanic of Shaun’s Power Cycles remains at his post and is joined by Dylan co-owner of Power Cycles. Test us, we are up to it.

Seeing as PMB will start the UCI 2011 season off, and it's right here in sunny South Africa, I though a group was in order.

Calling all MTBikers in the Hartbeespoort dam area to join this group

Single Speed Riders, is for those riders who like their bikes simple and their riding exciting. Often laughed at in the parking lot but admired on the trail.

This is for mostly beginner riders in the Hillcrest KZN area that would like to get together for a morning or afternoon ride during the week or on the weekend. Please let me know how many are intersted and what days of the week and times are convenient. If there is enough interest I may be able to get a more experienced, buy sympathetic rider to ride with us and show us some great routes in and around Hillcrest.

A group for all riders of the 2010 Sani2C. Hopefully everyone will share their training diary, route comments and generally anything to do with this year's Sani2C. If this works hopefully we can all make a plan to meet up at the end for a couple of beers in the tent!

looking to do a nite ride in Howick/Hilton area..who is in ?

Hi all.. I see there are quite a lot of posts of rides/trails in the Garden Route Area.. Knysna /Plett.. I'm interested in some of these but also the less known backroads in the area, with the ability to ride loops from Plett. We ride there every Dec/Jan and I have logged plenty Garmin points. Would love to find people with more info on the area..

Hilton 50 Miler The MTN National Marathon series boils down to this, the last event of the year! This is a AWESOME opportunity to ride some of the best mountain biking trails in the country! Traversing 12 different land owners, the riders in the marathon and half marathon will experience sublime wattle and pine forests, sugar-cane, indigenous bush, farmland and bush-veld. Every part of the route takes in views over the city, spectrcular views over the Albert-Falls Dam, Umngeni Valley and all the way to Durban. Comprising 60% forests, 15% sugar-cane, 20% farmland, 5% Thorn-veld, 1% public road. Lots of single track! Voted as one of the best events in Kwa-Zulu Natal! An "unreal experience" by Max Knox (DCM Chrome) definitely worth the trip!

Ok..so I keep looking at these really nice bikes at the LBS and when out at a event and I am tired of getting jealous! Unfortunately I cant afford to just go and buy my dream machine so I am going to have to shop around and try get the best bike for my budget. I am looking to spend around R15 000..must be full sus...XT or X9..and any additional extras will be appreciated :) Feel free to comment on the group

Starting in Windhoek the route climbs the Khomas Hochland up to a level of 2000m above sea level. You'll pass through beautiful scenery with scattered thorn trees and high savanna grass, the only spectators kudu, springbuck and the odd oryx staring at you in the red African sunset. Navigating the sharp twists and turns of the descent, at one stage dropping 700m in only 10km, will be made even more difficult by the cold and darkness of a moonless night. The next day brings challenges of its own. Temperatures can soar up to 50 degrees Celsius while you cross the arid, rocky monotomy of the Namib Desert. The finishing line is in the quaint coastal town of Swakopmund. With the cold Atlantic Ocean on one side and the red sand dunes of the desert on the other, the town itself summarizes the extremes of this race. The Desert Dash will be held for the fifth time on 18 to 19 December 2009. Have you got what it takes? Can you cope with the distance and weather conditions? The OUTSURANCE KZN Expedition takes place on 22 Nov 2009. The 40 km route will take place from Inanda Dam to Suncoast Casino. I will be entering this event as the last official ride for 2009...was thinking it would be fun to get a group of MTBiker members to ride together.
