Official World Class Track
Yo, what you all think about the idea of having 1 official world class track per main province? Natal has one, WC/Cape has one but what about the Free State and Gauteng? We have nothing up here.
I was thinking of perhaps finding the ideal spot and build/create a track/trail that would be of world class standards. Maybe even go as far as the PMB track, and perhaps have future major comps up here. There are plenty of mountains here. The prob I found is that, there are so many small tracks coming up, but nothing noticeable like Karkloof, Cascades, Giba Gorge, just to name a few, that i know of. I think the only one that ppl seem to know, is the Malelane track, but thats, far from JHB and its privately owned, from what I understand.
When I was at Stonehouse lodge, in the Magalieberg mountains, I was looking around, and saw so much potential but why nothing gets build, I have no clue. I know this won't affect the WC/Cape riders or the Natal riders that much but perhaps you guys can give some tips and pointers.
What you all think?
The biggest problem with DH tacks are land access and shuttle access. and the sport is not popular enough to be noticed. I think we need decent bike parks that cater for DH, XC, BMX and jumpers...
