I am definitely in but will be going to go down on the Friday as I am going to do the Offroad Motorbike ride on the Saturday and then will do the social 12km ride with the missus on Sunday. Camping at R50 per tent for the entire weekend makes accomodation extremely cheap.

From Port Shepstone about an hour and a bit. distance 58KM
Shelly Beach much the same. distance 48 KM
Port Edward 1hr 15 approx. distance 53.3Km

Depending on desired travel time

Anything from Hibberdene to Port Edward is about an hour/hour and half travel which should be quite feasable.

Classic starts at 8:30
25 at 9:00
12km ride 09:45
21KM trail run 07:10
12KM trail run 08:00

If you willing to be up to an hour and half travel distance away, accomodation from Umzumbe to Port Edward is within range. And there is plenty available that the centre of Holiday land for the South Coast.

There are caravan parks, camping, hotels, but it will be the start of the Peak holiday season.

More expensive much closer : www.oribigorge.co.za/rates.htm

Also:

Caravan/camping Park where the sardine was held
Lake Eland itself.
Oribi Gorge Nature reserve

and there should be lots more from roach motel to lap of luxury

Lake Eland have an unreserved camping are where you rock up and pitch your tent for the weekend, all for a ridiculous cost of R50 per tent!!

I am very keen for this one! My mom was involved in organising this race when it first started. She has a shirt in her office signed by Burry Stander (although I'm not certain she knows quite who he is lol)

Kyle and I are going down on the Friday and staying with my parents in Margate. We've taken the Monday off work so we don't have to drive back after the ride. Looking forward to a nice long weekend and some awesome riding

We opting for the Gateway Gauntlet - well Werner is anyway. I will be spectating -keen to see how it turns out.Sounds like its gonna be fun.Enrty is hell expensive but if you take into considertaion you may be coming home with a new bike its not that bad -and the odds are pretty good as the field is limited

Werner has a good chance of a podium..not like me who keeps making friends with the sweepers

With the Jonas's current run of good luck I think I should enter under an assumed name lol. Have fun Nikki/Werner..and good luck!
