Having attempted Stoney Hill chute the first time last week I had to go back to try and better the measely 3 switchbacks I managed. Strategy - park big red and walk it down. It paid off more than I could have imagined. Managed all but the first tight turn and in a rush of adrenalin managed the rest which for me was the most technically challenging thing I have ever done. The hills echoed with my delighted squeal as I zipped out the bottom, punshing the air like a champion - well - I was pretty darned proud of myself and on my level it was a helluva achievement.
The view into the Mgwahumbe nature reserve is breathtaking and I sat silent at the top for long minutes, taking in food for the soul, listening to the eerie silence and watching a eagle catch the thermals.
The single- track offers so much variety and fun and I'm happy to have confidently conquered all the tricky bits. Today was a GOOD day to ride and everything went superbly. Finished off with a post-ride, post-shower beer shandy enjoyed next to the pool and overlooking the awesome valley. My seond home
